POWDER COATING
Powder Coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied thermostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a hard durable finish. Powder coating can be used for coating a wide variety of metal products, such as household appliances, aluminium extrusions, and automobile and bicycle parts.
The powder coating mixture consists of finely ground particles made of pigment and resin. The powder, which is electrically charged, is sprayed onto the metal or aluminum surface that requires coating. By curing the powder and the product together in an oven, the charged powder particles adhere to the electrically grounded surfaces until heated and fused and a smooth coating is formed.

Our Process When powder coating a part, the first thing we do is prepare the surface to be coated in order to promote maximum adhesion of the powder to the base metal. This stage is dependent on the type and condition of base metal and requires media blasting, acid etching, or rotary sanding of the part. Next, the part to be coated is hung in one of our many controlled spray booths, cleaned, then the powder is electro-statically applied. Once coated, the part is then moved into one of our ovens where the powder is actually baked onto the surface of the part, producing a uniform and durable finish.

Environmentally Friendly- The powder coating process itself offers another advantage - it is environmentally friendly . . . virtually pollution-free! Unlike the liquid paint used in a typical spray painting process, there are not any solvents used in our powder coating process. Moreover, unused or oversprayed powder is always recovered, not released into the atmosphere, so any waste is negligible and can be disposed of easily, safely, and in an environmentally friendly way.
